Too Much Tourism and Active Business
The Krkonoše Mountains, like Šumava and Beskydy, were hit by a domestic tourist boom at the time of the coronavirus pandemic. The high number of visitors, for which many recreational areas were unable to prepare, had irreversible and devastating effects. In the context of the Giant Mountains, the lack of environmental protection and the increased level of active business linked to controversial political figures have long been highlighted. The Association of Municipalities and the Kralovehradecky Region declare their efforts for sustainable development, but it is a complex power struggle.
