Fajfr štýl Fest
Skateclub Vrbno is an informal and volunteer association. After participating in the local skateboard and music scenes, in 2017 its founders Zdeněk Rybár and Jakub Rektořík rented out the spaces of a former glassworks and made a community center with a sheltered mini ramp and street zone, as well as a rehearsal room and concert podium. Volunteers and the local skateboarding community also participated in building the new space. The Skateclub offers various activities of the skateboarding group which operates under the auspices of the TJ Sokol, and provides the skatepark with a covered area for winter skateboarding. As a sports team, it serves the local kids and youth and the rehearsal room is available to local bands and musicians. Concerts and other events connecting music and skateboarding (like the SkateMusic festival, Štěpánská party, Fajfr štýl festival, Skate Jam...) take place about six times a year, and the music dramaturgy is also handled by various promoters from the region. The Skateclub’s activities speak mostly to a local audience, but sometimes draw visitors from the Opava, Ostrava and Olomouc regions.
One of the most prominent events which takes place in the former glassworks is the Fajfr štýl music festival. Its founders and dramaturges Tomáš Kiska and Jiří Habartů started organizing it in 2018, and since the beginning have been focusing on Czech and Slovak indie scenes, mostly guitar music. The festival uses the aesthetics of the glassworks and the glass industry to interest many visitors from outside the region. In terms of its operations and staffing, the festival is loosely associated with the festival Pelhřimovy, which is held about 30 kilometers near.
