Moving Station Plzeň
The aim of the JOHAN organization is to support independent artistic works, mostly in theater, dance, multimedia and the performing arts, at both amateur and professional levels. Their projects aim to increase the public’s interest in the world and the spaces we live in. Since its foundation, JOHAN has been working on interconnecting artistic work with education, as well as facilitating children’s education by means of art. Since January 2014, they have taken part in setting up and running an art-educational space in the former train station spaces of Plzeň Jižní předměstí, which they call Moving Station. They organize contemporary theater events, dance, interdisciplinary art experiments and drama education events. The Dramacentrum is part of the space, offering spaces for projects in amateur theater, as well as rehearsals and short-term art projects. Many dramatic and creative projects have developed there, often later breaking off and becoming independent.
Barokní dech – a Theater Festival in the Landscape
The pilgrimage church of St. Barbara, near the village of Všekary, comes alive through its various cultural events. The aim is to find connections between people and places through the practice of art. The events aim to raise awareness about the state of the Baroque church of St. Barbara and support the Všekary village in an effort to save this unique landmark. There are theater performances, lectures, walks, concerts and workshops. The art dramaturgy of the church connects history and memories of local seniors with dramatic performances. The festival is organized by JOHAN in collaboration with the Faculty of the Theater of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Všekary municipal board, and the city of Holýšov.
